From Stewart Coggin, your Guide to World Soccer
This week as I carry on my look at the best players in each position, it's goalkeepers. Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon have undoubtedly been the best two stoppers over the last 10 years and deserve their place on this list for their continued longevity. Buffon may have been hindered by injuries in recent seasons, but he is still one of the best in the business.

From Stewart Coggin, your Guide to World Soccer
I continue my series looking at the best players in the world in each position. This week it's defenders. Nemanja Vidic has been a model of consistency for Manchester United over the last few seasons. He may not be the quickest on this list, but his tackling abilities and strength in the air make him the best pound for pound defender around, in my opinion. I have also taken into account a defender's ability to get forward in this list, hence Maicon and Dani Alves' prominent positions.

A Guide to Defensive heading
The position where a player is most commonly required to make a defensive header is center-back. However, even a striker may be called upon to do so, if he is back defending a corner for instance. So it is important that whatever position you play in, the art of defensive heading is mastered... Read more

Defensive Gameplan: The Offside Trap
To understand the offside trap, you first need to understand the offside rule. In broad terms, an attacking player is judged to be in an offside position if he is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second to last opponent. In effect, this means a player is an offside position if he is between the last defender and the opposing goal... Read more
